30 Jun City Tattersalls Club, Sydney
PDS Group would like to thank our client partners ICD Property and First Sponsor Consortium for their trust in appointing us as Project Manager for the mixed-use redevelopment of the 125-year old iconic City Tattersalls Club at 194 Pitt Street, Sydney.
Stage one envelope approval obtained in November 2019 comprises a 49-storey tower which includes circa 246 residential apartments and a 100-room hotel above the historic site.
Envelope approval was also received for plans to rejuvenate the entire club house, including retail, restaurants, a combined hotel and club reception on the ground level, as well as an event space, a premium co-working centre, health and wellbeing facilities and other great member amenities.
“City Tattersalls Club’s rejuvenated premises will be a modern multi-purpose facility for inner city residents and a tremendous new base from which the Club can continue to serve the city and its many thousands of members well into a second century,” says City Tattersalls Club chairman, Patrick Campion.
After joining the project team at the beginning of 2020, we are excited to see the pending outcomes of the competitive design process shortlisted to SJB, Candalepas Associates, BVN, Bates Smart, Hassell and Scott Carver, partnering with Singapore-headquartered DP Architects. ICD Development Director, Alice Smith said that “The six shortlisted firms were chosen based on their expertise with hotels and residential projects, heritage architecture and experience with the Sydney CBD.”
The brief outlined that the tower component will provide future residents and visitors with a desirable place to live and stay – an environment that responds to their needs through excellence in interior planning, exemplar urban design and architecture, environmentally sustainable design, together with the quality of built form. Prior to announcing the shortlist, the development group spent over six months interviewing architects from around the world.
“PDS Group is thrilled to bring our expertise in tall building, luxury residential, hotel and hospitality projects to the team for this exciting City Tattersalls Club development. During our involvement we have come to further appreciate the rich history of the site and its service to the community over 125 years; we are incredibly excited to deliver a destination that is rejuvenated and respectful of the Club’s past,” says PDS Group Director NSW, Kevin Miksch.
PDS Group looks forward to keeping you updated on the progress of the works as we watch the stunning transformation of the City Tattersalls Club, a project that will further enhance the city streetscape and continue to be part of the fabric that shapes todays’ ever evolving city, Sydney.
