17 5月 Sydney Women in Property
Earlier in the year Gracie Cabot from the NSW office was accepted into the Property Council of Australia’s ‘500 Women in Property Program’, which aims to champion women within the industry to network and develop strong relationships that could help in their professional development.
Jeff Curnow one of our NSW Directors says, “The 500 Women in Property is a fantastic initiative and we are proud of Gracie for being accepted into the program. Gracie is an integral part of the PDS Group team mentoring a number of junior team members to support their development. It’s exciting to see Gracie’s initial idea of a small catch up with a new network grow into such an impressive event.”
Gracie along with Bianca, Maria, Vivien and Amy decided to host a PDS Group ‘Sydney Women in Property’ event to help share their our own networks with other women in the industry. With the strong support of NSW Directors, Kevin Miksch, Jeff Curnow and Managing Director Andrew Fortey, it was time to start planning.
We anticipated a modest attendance of 20-35 women, believing that in time it would grow bigger and bigger. Invites went out and incredibly (although not surprisingly) the RSVP’s came flooding in with so many ‘”yes’s” and requests to bring along other like-minded women. The response was overwhelming and highlighted just how important and powerful women supporting women is in an industry that is predominately male.
So, we are thrilled to share that we had 60 inspirational and visionary women arrive at The Port in Darling Harbour last night. The evening began with a few drinks and a short introduction from Gracie before the speed networking component of the evening commenced. Like speed dating, speed networking involves all participants to move around their assigned group in a ‘Round Robin’ style to meet and greet one-on-one while exchanging information on professional background and future goals in 4 minutes before the bells rings and you move around to the next person.
With the drinks flowing, the timer ringing and the chatter getting faster and faster, it was clear the networks were well and truly being established. We would like to thank everyone who attended last night and hope you were able to share and soak up as much information from other industry professionals as we did.
Gracie says, “The inaugural Sydney Women in Property event was a huge success and a credit to the amazing women who attended. The night was buzzing with the chatter of women moving from one speed networking meet and greet to another. Genuine connections were made on both a professional and personal level which has been fantastic to hear. The feedback has been overwhelming positive from the women and the enthusiasm is out there to start planning the next event!”
